Last Night of the Proms
Royal Australian Navy Band
Monday 23 October 2:00pm
The
West Gippsland Arts Centre would love for you to join us as we present the Royal
Australian Navy Band, Melbourne as they showcase their wind band for
some pomp and circumstance in their Last Night Of The Proms themed concert.
Founded
in 1895, The Proms, formally named the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts
Presented by the BBC, is an eight-week summer season of daily orchestral
classical music concerts held annually, predominantly in the Royal Albert
Hall in central London. The Last Night Of The Proms typically takes place
on the second Saturday in September and is usually lighter in style to the
preceding weeks of music with popular classics being performed, followed
by a second half of British patriotic pieces.
For the RAN Band’s
Last Night Of The Proms you will hear Elgar’s Pomp And
Circumstance March No. 1 (Land Of Hope And Glory), Fantasia On
British Sea Songs, Jerusalem and of course Rule Brittania! We
will also be celebrating the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
Feel
free to adorn yourself in red white and blue and wave a Union Jack (or any
National flag).
Duration: 1 hour with no intermission
