Symphonic Journeys - THE FIRST
10 Years of Gippsland Symphony Orchestra

Sunday 22 June 2:00pm
Gippsland
Symphony Orchestra presents Symphonic Journeys – THE FIRST - 10
years of the Gippsland Symphony Orchestra.
‘THE FIRST’ refers
to Symphony No. 1 by Beethoven as it was the first symphony the orchestra
performed on June 14, 2015. Borrowing from the great classical composer
Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 the gateway to Romanticism, Symphony No. 1
points towards the undeniable brilliance of Beethoven and is rightly
considered one of the most pivotal symphonies ever composed.
Beethoven’s
King Stephen Overture is a powerful orchestral work that reflects
Beethoven’s mastery of orchestration and dramatic expression. The
Gippsland Chamber Singers will enhance the performance with rich vocal
harmonies, adding depth and emotion.
The Gippsland Chamber
Singers are a small ensemble of vocalists from the West Gippsland
area. Founded in 2020, the group performs high-quality music ranging from
the medieval period to the present day, and from across the globe, the
Gippsland Chamber Singers will feature works by the great English composer
Henry Purcell’s monumental Baroque classic Dido and Aeneas plus works by
Beethoven and Faure.
